My fiancee got me tickets to the Indy 500 last year, through her work. (She walked past my home office and stopped "oh by the way, you weren't interested in going to the 500 for free were you?" Uh, YEAH! We ended up with hotel stay, free shuttle to the track, free tickets to the race, free dinners, free padded seat cushion, free.....
Yes, it's good to know pharmaceutical reps and swag. I just found out she got the deal again this year, woot! Anyone else going?
I'll be there once again---- just reserved camping in Lot 2 (behind American Legion Hall) Me and my hooligan co-horts will be there from dawn on Friday-- through Sunday.
Of course I'll be paying for my tickets etc. Congratulations on the swag score! That's a Hell of a give-a-way!

I forgot to mention the police escort for our shuttle bus.
It only counts if it's the motorcycle cop standing on his seat!
I will be there as well. Northwest Vista turn 4
My first year = 1977. My dad was a fireman in the pits and I was in the stands.
1977 = Oldsmobile Delta 88 2-door Pace Car.
Then I went 20 more years. I can't take the crowds but I would love to go.
I hate you.. . .. . Indy is on my bucket list.

These are the key items that makes you the "man of men" - finding a close hotel room. Getting to and leaving the track totally sucks E36 M3.

I didn't realize how big a deal the police escort was when she told me we were getting one, until that morning. Holy E36 M3 was the traffic a mess, and I've lived in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season.
And we weren't the only ones getting an escort. While we were on the bus, I watched at least 4 other cops lead either buses or limos through the streets. The hotel we stayed at was the JW Marriot also, a pretty swanky hotel! And afterwards, they had a handful of Gumball Rally cars lined up out front, like GTR's, Lambo's, etc. Pretty sweet weekend.
I managed some decent photos with my new camera too.
It was even better with a pretty red-head at my side.
My brothers went last year, got onto the track, met a lot of big name famous racers, high-fived mario, laughed at Ashley Judd and her silly pretentiousness and basically had a great time. I always wanted to go but the cars look stupid nowadays....

Kind of hoping it isn't 90F again. We spent 10 minutes on those bleachers and decided against being baked potatoes.
Actually I'm going to the 500 for the 1st time this year. Never wanted to deal with the traffic but I fixed that problem last September. I bought a house less than a mile from the track! I can stand at my curb, look east and see the Northwest Vista stands!
We used to drive to my brothers friends house and park. Then grill out afterwards to let traffic die down.

(Revived vs starting a new thread for the same damn thing)
Got out hotel confirmation, it's the Westin this time. Same perks as last year, woot!
Anyone else plan to be there? Perhaps a meet? I'll be that guy, you know, in the white tshirt (probably GRM or SCCA). And a hat. Easy to spot...
Maybe I'll see her:

I went the past two years, and my aunt and uncle just offered me tickets again (fo free!) yesterday. I haven't accepted them yet, but there is good chance that I will.

I actively stay away from that area during both the nascar race and indy 500.....

I decided to let some guy named Andretti drive for awhile. He did ok I guess.
