First 500 I've missed in my entire life. But I'm on vacation and had a great day at the beach. Wish I would have thought to Dvr it. Oh well.

Play with my 5 year old or watch the race? I played with my 5 year old and recorded it for later. The cars are just terrrible looking, all alike and if Im not mistaken, spec style engines, so the school bus 350's and the turbo buicks and turbo cosworths are long gone. Sounds like there was still some good racing, the story of Dario's go cart made me choke up a bit and best of all I'm assuming we didn't have any of Ashley Judd's silly theatrics

-1. I hate GWC.
GWC is idiotic at best. I feel bad for Bordais locking the brakes entering pit lane and smoking the pit lane wall though.......that had to suck. Pagenaud had a great race. Were they still showing AJ Amadingbat in the top 10? That berkeleyer was scored 2 laps down with 15-20 left.
Glad to see Vin Diesel win today.
Really though, I was pulling for TK or the dinger to win. Hard to root against TK, the guy is so damn likeable.
And Keith, wasn't the F1 race over at like 10am? It wasn't even sharing the same time slot. But thank you for letting us know about F1 in an Indy thread.

F1 was over at 7:30 am my time, but it was being replayed on NBC at the same time the Indy 500 was on. Same time slot. So it was a direct comparison between the two - when the red flag came out in Monaco, I flipped over to Indy to see what it was like. After all, Smokey's book had me interested in the history of the race.
I was a little surprised to find what I did. I didn't know anything about the modern race, but it sure looked like a spec series to me with identical cars. And more commercials than a Superbowl.
Sorry if a newbie's impressions don't have a place here. Coming in cold, it's hard to see what the fuss would be about. Now, that Indy Lights finish, that was impressive.
