The season's about to start, and for once I think there's real reason for optimism. This article seems to agree.

I like Indycar. Having said that, I also hate the fact that it is a "spec" racing series. I really wish they'd let another manufacturer make cars. Also keep hearing rumors of a third engine builder getting involved. That could help a little. St. Pete is usually an interesting race. Let's hope they all make it through turn one on Sunday.
Last year I got serious and watched most of the races. This year I’m jumping in too and will know all the stats and drivers.
I want to go to the Indy 500 but after 20 times attending the race I can’t do the traveling. I need a vendor suite with a coach bus delivering me back and forth.
Teams are showing up here in St. Pete. Saw a few haulers. Unfortunately with Spring Break, The PGA tour, and the Race this weekend hotels were horrible so I won't be staying for the weekend and heading back to Austin. I'll have to catch the race on TV instead.
I usually don't say stuff like this, but I hope Alexander Rossi wakes up tomorrow with a great big pimple in the middle of his forehead. Right where his helmet rubs on it. And people make fun of him. And his girlfriend breaks up with him.
Everybody knows who Robert Wickens is now. I'm glad I accidentally got CBS Sportsnet that carried the DTM a few years back, so I have a wee bit of knowledge about his skills.

I don't think that was pimple to the forehead move. Especially when Rossi got a good start, and was able to pull up on Wickens at the end of the straight. He just lost control.
Great drive by Wickens, and now we have some new people to root for.

I know. Wickens didn't create the gap he did on the last start, he should have gone right quicker, like he did on the original start, or he should have let Rossi banzai past him and crossed over after. I just hate it when a guy dominates and the race is determined by a stupid yellow, or by gas mileage...like when Rossi won Indy.
I was picturing both SPM drivers on the podium for a while...
My question is would Wickens get blasted if he blocked Rossi in that corner? Of course Rossi is going to lose control, the tires where cold.
Is it just me or does this seem like another case of inconsistent actions taken by Indycar? I would have thought Dixon's mistake in the same corner that lead to contact with Sato was pretty similar to this incident between Rossi & Wickens. Dixon got a penalty for it whereas no action was taken against Rossi. Perhaps there's another angle that shows something I didn't see but from here it seems like if Dixon was penalized then Rossi been penalized as well.
If they would just put a starter on the engines, the bump at the end, or several of the other yellow flags, would not have happened... It is annoying when they throw a yellow in order to restart a stalled car.

I'd need to see it again, but from memory Dixon started his move a lot farther back than Rossi did. Still a pretty optimistic move on Rossi's part, though.

The Dixon move was a lot harder- he slid on the paint, and hit hard enough with the front of his car to lift the rear tires off the ground. Rossi made an optimistic move, probably destined for heartbreak, to try to win the race.
