I have had 3 Integras but they were all the 91-93 bodystyle, 1 GSR, 2LS

Been out of integra game for 10 plus years. Looking at Integra Sedan , 2001.

car needs 4 new struts . Online research keeps saying get kono yellow and be done with it. Type R springs on car now with Type R shocks. Rest of car stock.

I went to tire rack to search.

---it seems sedans and coupes have same part numbers for shocks

---It seems GSR and Type R front have same part number but rear R and GSR part numbers are different

I have always had Bilsteins on my MaZda and toyotas . Never had koni.

what do you guys recommend?

bilsteins B8 $600 VS Koni yellow sport $520?

yes this will be the 3rd car I buy this year , after swearing off not to buy more cars (on car 53 now, with 9 in the stable). I dont want to talk about divorce

The rear shocks on the standard car and type r have a different lower mounting configuration.  I don't know the specifics on valving and such, but I would recommend a set of Koni yellow sport shocks for the car.  I have a set paired with H&R race springs which are a bit much for the street, so if you are looking for a small upgrade over stock the type r springs would be just right.

Car has Type R springs.  Given there are no new Type R OEM Struts, and this set is blown, thus was askign for a recommendation.  Your Koni Yellow Sport + Type R springs is what hte concensus seems to be eeverywhere.

You can go cheap. But David Whitener of Whitener racing shocks builds great non adjustable Bilstein setups that can be street driven and are not crazy expensive. They're more than a grand. But they're as good of shocks as MCS's or Penske's and they can be rebuilt for very affordable money.

I meant to mention that when you asked earlier in my Hazmat thread.

What's cheap to you? What I posted or are there cheaper options?

I need highway complaint, 2x a year buttonwillow and about once a month angeles crest highway (lots of turns and twistes). Will put some 150-200 wear Yokohama rubber on it for stickiness

EDIT: emailed David for advice

In reply to mr2s2000elise :

What you were looking at would be considered cheap.

David primarily(basically exclusively) builds stuff for racers. I loved my car on his stuff, but YMMV.

Your needs may be such that they're not a good fit. But you have a car he does build for. So reaching out to him doesn't hurt, although you may or may not get a response just FYI.

Thank you. Now I understand what you mean. :) appreciate you time and help

yes I dont need race car stuff for this 4 door. Have too many other toys I spend too much on. If it didn't have busted struts, I wouldn't even touch it except tires and alignment

hope he responds, but if not, koni yelllow

For regular use, I would stick with the ITR springs + Koni or Bilstein shocks. I ran bilsteins with the ITR springs from 2014 til just recently before I went with higher rate springs, can't complain about them.

But leaning towards the Whitener racing shocks  if I need higher rates later on

do you recall the model bilsteins you ran?

I was using the ITR spec bilstein sports, I think they were renamed Bilstein B8s. They may have a slightly shorter body than the OTS konis, but not sure.

My Civic has Integra Type R springs and Koni sports (yellow), the ride is a bit firm compared to stock, even on the "soft" setting of the Koni's, but acceptable for a DD and autocross toy.

I ran Koni yellows and H&R Race (all integra spec) on my '93 Del Sol for years. Can't go wrong with Konis on that platform.

Sounds like you're good, but I'll throw yet another recommendation in for the Konis.  I ran them with the H&R OE Sport springs, which was the closest I could get at the time to Type R springs in terms of rate & drop.  It's a firm, but very livable setup - especially if you're talking highway.  I appreciated the adjustment on the Koni sport/yellows for street vs autocross/track duty, but I don't know if it actually improved my times or it just felt better.  I'm not really a good enough driver to track that kind of change on timeslips though.

Thanks Matt

koni yellow was overwhelming support on this platform for all the research.
due to my experience with bilsteins and recent b6 setup on Mazda5, I was wondering if B8 would be best for the ITR suspension

not sure if not enough people run ITR, or B8, but Koni yellow seems hands down the favorite

I think the konis what you need them to do. The bilsteins might not be worth the 600 or so asking price. I didn't realize they went up over 100 dollars from 5 years ago as I was able to purchase mine for under 500 shipped back in 2014. If they were priced a lot closer, I'd give them a shot.

Now that you mention it, I might have to install the ITR springs on my EK civic coupe just to see how they work with the koni yellows I have on gc coilover sleeves.

Well suspension is here. Will install wednesday. Quick question

package says “normal,  “ high or low. since they are height adjustable. was thinking of installing them on the “normal” height? What say you guys?

It's been so long I can't remember if there was some sort of "gotcha" where normal wasn't stock height, but I'm sure Koni customer support could tell you or refer you to Lee Grimes (I assume he still works there).  As far as personal choice, Honda did a pretty good job with how the TypeR springs work with the stock geometry so I'd probably just run them there at first and see how it goes.  That said, if you're not using the car in competition there's something to be said for doing things for the sake of appearances.

Thank you for the help. I decided to make a thread for the car https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/vtec-dd-to-take-the-kids-to-school-log/160789/page1/

I will go for the "normal," and see where it is.  As it is, I am scraping making it up and down my driveway. Car will see a few auto-x a year.

There was a thread on hondatech from years back talking about it.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-type-r-8/itr-springs-w-koni-yellows-pics-2900146/

I dont see it too much of an issue, there are plenty of lowering springs that are softer and go lower than itr springs.
