I get the same crap when I mention our GMC's fuel economy. Disbelief, arrogance, rudeness and a need to be shown "proof". I ignore those too. I think I speak for the OP on this one (since he;s a local), why would we make this up? What would it gain? Why would it be of pertenance? Why would we tarnish what "e-rep" we have on a site we frequent often?
A little compassion, a little restraint and a little common courtesy would go a lot farther.
Because nobody would sell a 12-second, MS'd, large turbo'd, Supra-injected car for $1000 without being on withdrawals.
And honestly, it's mostly the OP. He's OK most of the time, even though he loves Toyota a little too much, but the way he's hyping this car it's grating to all heck and back. Plus all the talk of ripping out good stuff on it because he "doesn't understand it".
I've had many turbo cars. It's stupid-easy to make one hit higher boost with parts from any hardware store. The same tricks work on Talon TSi's, Starion's, Turbo Coupe's, and XR4Ti's. Not to mention Probe GT Turbo's, which are the same as MX-6's.
I don't doubt that the car feels fast. Every turbo car does if it's running well and tuned a little bit. But claiming 12's and 30MPG and $1000 is ludicrous. Look at how I get called out for 14's, 23MPG, and $2450 (plus mods at additional cost)! And other GRM'ers have driven my car AND raced it. They know it's true.
Why don't you go over there and help him out with the MX-6? He might appreciate it.

as for hyping the car... Are any of us that much differnt? I hype my Hyundais all day every day. And My GMC.... and My little 'Zuk. We all have our quirks but being a douche to someone because they are excited about their project is not a GRM attitude IMO.

No. We're not all that different re: hyping/loving our cars. And 99% of us here have loved a car that most would find laughable. But most of us, should it be doing something we didn't expect would look to see why at some point instead of making plans/claims based on purely hypothetical parts.
Me? I'm looking forward to hearing what he finds under there. I doubt he's going to find what he's hoping for, but stranger things have happened.
