Four lap sebring Nissan quest

If I've lapped a grand caravan around Sebring then it should be okay. Pro tip, don't open the power sliding doors at 110mph, the chassis rigidity turns to warmed swiss cheese being taken to by a hand mixer. That was one of the more interesting moments that I've ever had behind the wheel.

Yes it is. No rental vans allowed. Due to safety reasons and not meeting the ratios. Also we are looking for more $2000 Challenge type entries for our stories.

Still think there should be a stock performance car included for comparison in the magazine but that's just my opinion.

I totally get that. The "fastest" car I have ever driven was an Elise. That is, of course, as old world a car as you can buy from the last 2 decades in my opinion. Damn that was fun though. Makes me want a 2zz MR2 spyder, as I will never be able to get into an Elise.
Another thing i've figured out is that how fast something 'feels' when you're not actually hauling ass for long periods is more about torque/weight than power/weight. That's why my ~320tq/2200lb Dodge Aries felt a LOT faster than any stock musclecar i've driven (up to 550hp so far) even though if you started a race at 80mph you'd quickly find out it wasnt that fast due to low overall power.
In general i want a car to be dramatic and engaging at speeds that won't automatically kill me if i lose control. My current minivans fit that criteria.

As usual, we'll have something stock there.
This was a much more interesting conversation than I was expecting. Thanks gang.
Rick, I fully intend to bring a $2k death trap, so you will have something cool to photograph when it bursts into flames!

I know you will have something at the event. It would be nice when I show my friends the magazine that the Boss 302 Laguna seca ran the autocross in xx.xx amount of time while my $20xx car did it in 2 seconds less. Same with the drag racing but maybe it would be frowned upon by the manufacturer you are borrowing the car from.
I don't want to spend the vacation days away from my family even though I own a challenge legal car. So the only way I'm entering in the next 20 years is if I win lotto. If that happens I'm entering a 'Locost Mclaren replica' then turning up in a new Mclaren and presenting a copy of the winning lotto ticket as my budget evidence. I'll let them bump me to exhibition class after I turn up.
20 odd years ago my Mustang was in pieces for a track day so I took a rental Contour and had a blast all day. I can neither Confirm or deny one handed hot laps with friends while drinking beer at the end of the day after proceedings had wrapped up.

Will it have a retractable target top?

Still one of the most entertaining tidbits from my one challenge entry so far was that it beat a then-new NC sport package 'answer' in the autocross while being a totally unsorted k-car with absolutely no alignment and the same section width of street tire on it.
So yes, having a new standard bearer to beat up on (or chase) is definitely fun.
