In the last few days, a screeching/whistling noise has been coming from my car during normal driving. The clutch and shifter shift fine and the timing belt/water pump were done a few thousand miles ago. Is my transmission on the way out?

Is there a brake pad squealer making contact with the rotor?

I'm going to guess based on reading a description of a sound from someone I don't know on the internet that it's the low fluid in your wiper squirters sloshing around, dripping onto the fan belt, and causing slipage of the power steering pully.

That or maybe the brake dust shield is dented in and touching the rotor.

Or maybe you ran over a troop of pigmies and one or more of them are screeming for mercy under the car as you drag them along?

Point being, no one can really help diagnose a sound via the internet.
