The slowest C6 is a 4.x second to 60 and 12.x second 1/4 mile car. "Crazy fast" is obviously a matter of opinion, but to me any car meeting those specs qualifies as crazy fast for street driving. Yes there are faster cars, but if a 12 second quarter mile isn't crazy fast then I'm crazy slow.
EastsideTim: It's been covered pretty well, but "fun" is such a subjective term it's hard to answer the question. I've driven a C6 auto on the street a fair amount and I loved it but it wasn't as engaging as, say, a Miata is. It's comfortable, and easy to drive, and the power is incredible. It's like there's a Jekyll and a Hyde mode, and on the street you're stuck in Jekyll mode because otherwise you're doubling the speed limit. It's not boring and it's not a failing of the car it's a question of limits. The car's limits and capabilities are so high that you can't approach them and they've set the car up so you can handle it easily around town so you're never stressed just driving it. I think they're great, but to answer if it's a fun car at legal speeds is tough.
It's like the GS430, but times two. You just can't spend any appreciable time at full throttle or you're just going way too fast. It'll go through turns faster than most other cars but doesn't feel stressed doing it.
I daily'd a C5Z for a week. It was nice. The thing I couldn't get past was thinking about how much the tires cost to just meander to work and back.
I think my favorite DD so far has been a mazdaspeed3. A previous commenter mentioned he found it too much for daily use, and if you want to redline more than two gears on the on-ramp I would agree. However, the ~30mpg, nice interior, and hatch cargo capacity make it a win to me.
If you don't need the cargo space, or prefer RWD, I think an E46 offers a very similar experience.
I'll throw in my dissenting opinion.
I rented a C6 and loved it both on the street and at an autocross. I love Miatas as much as the next guy, but I think there's more to a fun daily driver than approachable limits. I felt the C6 had great character between the sound, look and feel. How often are you anywhere near the limit, even in a Miata? Far less often than you are listening to the engine! And the torque feels so, SO good in such a small car, even if you are only using a fraction of it or rolling on the throttle in sixth gear. Driving it at slow speeds felt no more frustrating than it did in literally any other car.
The only real demerit, in my opinion, was the low ride height being a pain in the ass from time to time. Still, I would absolutely drive one every day and not wonder if I made a good choice.
Honestly, The power is insane now just off the showroom floor. What I like so much out of the LS3 is that it's just right there all of the time. No waiting for a turbo, no whoops I missed my shift point and now I need to build revs. It's just you push the throttle down it drives you forward. That is on a weak cam too.
What I find with my LS3 car is there is no drama. On mine since I'm a little under tired compared to the Vette/Camaro, You can get a bit sideways if you are stupid. (Oh and no traction control or stability control don't help either) But other than that, It just does everything I need it to with no fuss for everyday driving.
Really the question is can you stand having all that power and barely using it? I struggle with that one often.

Buy my v6 mr2. Cold a/c rides nicely, great steering and brakes. V6 noises. Fast enough but not too fast. 1990's Toyota build quality. Think of it as a camry reliable budget Cayman.
Sorry for the threadjack

I spin the tires up every time I drive the V. Every time.

Allow me to relieve you of such struggles!

I think you have to sign a contract that every time you drive an E39 M5, you have to hit 100 mph at some point.
I really enjoy my c6 z06 but the number one thing that sucks is the horrible approach angle.
It feels like I'm driving a supercar even if I'm just picking up the kids (one at a time)

This. It's not like i have to haul ass constantly to appreciate the accelerative potential of a car, but i tend to WOT at some point on every single drive i do.
Over the years I have driven some pretty fast cars and I was not really impressed. What's the point for on the road ?
I much prefer a small car that is fun. My Fiesta SE can easily get me into trouble on the public roads.
Yes I do see Corvettes that seem to be out for a Sunday drive.
Brings up the old question, Which is more fun ? A fast car slow or a slow car fast ?
