So, a while back I picked up a supercharger from (as I recall) a 2000 nb miata. I want to instal it in my 1990. I’m not sure what all I need to do that. Pretty sure it’s an m45 or what not. (I’ve had some gin and tonics so bare with me). What needs to change to do this? Does it physically mount the same 1.6 and 1.8? I know the throttle bodies are different, I’m sure I can make an adaptor. What do I do with fuel management? It has two powercards but I’m sure they are 1.8 stuff. I emailed powercard or whoever and didn’t get very far identifying what they are. I’m only looking for a few hp here, I’m not a very big power guy. What maybe 5 psi? Any advice would be helpful! This is a high mileage set up... maybe I’d be better off trading it for something 1.6 applicable? Who knows.
I think my kit was a Jackson Racing and it looks different from that one, so yours may be for a 1.6. Harold M. has a 1.6 unit, so you could get a gander at his. Mine is available if you want to look at an installed unit. I have a power card, so we may be able to compare those ,too.
Not sure what the boost level is but I've read 6-7 psi and it's a really nice uptick from stock.

Well, I am *almost* certain it came off of an nb?
It would appear I have asked questions about this before... https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/miata-16-powercard-install-help/53104/page1/
I wonder if someone wants a 1.8 supercharger in trade for a 1.6 turbo...
You might consider this a good time to find a 1.8 mill to replace your high mileage 28 year old sewing machine. (and start planning of a rear diff upgrade, the VLSD in a '90 is probably about done by now and the added ponys will nuke it soonish)

Well... good points, but I already have a 1.8 swapped miata:). Did that several years ago. My 1992 (has a very tangled up history with me since I bought it in 2002) but it eventually ended up with the 1.8. Surprisingly the old vlsd rear end is holding up after over 200k miles! It will still spin both tires if I put one on dirt and one on pavement ha ha.
All that said, I really like the character of a 1.6 better. I have a 1.8 just sitting in the garage, but I’m reluctant to swap it in, as this 1.6 only has 140,000 miles on it, and the short nose crank is in better shape than the 1.8 I swapped in my 92
I notice where I said “high mileage” it sounded like I meant the miata, I was talking about the supercharger. I think it had 75k on it!
Not a JRSC specialist, but here's what I know...
- you'll need different brackets to mount the SC to the 1.6 head as it's shorter overall. I don't know about the idler bracket, I suspect that's compatible
- the 1.8 powercard MAY throw an error as it will only see two injector signals instead of four. The 1.6 runs batch instead of sequential, with the exception of 1993 California spec cars.
- two powercards is one too many. I know that there was a vendor doing this a while back, but saturated injectors are saturated injectors and adding more magic boxes will not change that
- the throttle body will probably require two new holes. No big deal.

Thanks Keith. I don’t think this originally had two cards, I think somehow I ended up with an extra.
