Why do you think that?
If they are going to continue the Liberty, why not have a turbo-4? EcoBoost seems to be working well for Ford.

Everything! It has more horsepower from smaller displacement and allows for better fuel economy if driven without a lead foot. Who the hell wants that?

I'm not saying the first gen Liberty was a "real" Jeep, but since then it is a slow slide into a car and not a Jeep. I'm not a Jeep person, but really?
I dunno, the XJ Cherokee was unibody, and that certainly hasn't kept them from the trails. I run into a lot of girl Jeepers with KJs with lift kits and tires. They're the official redneck minivan around here.

I'm a big-time Jeeper. I've had 14 of 'em. I never liked the Libby, but it's an necessary evil in my book. Selling Libbys, Patriots, or other stuff like that makes the Rubicon possible.
I like the Patriot, or at least the way it looks. I've seen some posts online that people have taken them through a crazy amount of mud and done some moderate trail riding. I like the fact that it can be had with 4WD with a manual Trans.

He might not know that, they hardly sold any. I ran the service dept at a Jeep dealership for a year after those came out, I only ever saw 2. One was from out of state just popping in for an oil change, and the other was in the shop constantly for odd problems (glow plugs installed in the wrong order at the factory, etc). It actually drove really nicely when it was working, it reminded me alot of my brother in law's 07 Toyota vigo (non usdm Tacoma, 3.0 Turbo diesel). Fyi they also made Turbo diesel grand. Cherokees, but I only ever saw one. It was only available on fully loaded overland models I think, so approaching if not exceeding 50k. They used modern Mercedes diesels for both.

Saw one at the Cincy Training Center many moons ago. Plus they had one on a stand. Good thing I never saw one in the shop.

I agree that you have to sell a watered down version to get money to make what you want. But two versions on the same Caliber platform???? Which is a car but not a car and a SUV while not being a SUV and it isn't really big enough to be a CUV either....
