I hear all of you on the called lug nuts deal, but in over 25 years of owning various Hondas with them in WI and OH, I have never had an issue with a single one.  Current Accord is 10 years / a zillion miles old and they are still perfectly fine.

That is because Honda chromed the metal directly, instead of pressing a cap onto an unplated lug nut.

The threads were chromed too, which is why they always spun on and off like butter.

Doing the stud conversion on the BMW was the most satisfying hour I've spent in a while.

Older VW and Audis without the little disc rotor to hub retaining screw and lug BOLTs to keep the rotor through holes lined up with the threaded holes in the hub could nearly make me homicidal. Especially on the side of the road, in the dark, raining, changing a flat, while dressed in "good" clothes for a night out. Fortunately before any libations were consumed in this case. Okay, I was homicidal; if the German bean counter was in the area, there would have been a problem.

Yes, the stud conversion was very, very satisfying. Very.
