I have some...other plans for the exhaust. Actually, my first thought was to turn the pipe 180 degrees and run it out through the hood, with a tractor flapper cap on it. But then I had an even betterer idea...
When I took off the wheels yesterday I discovered why the previous owner had mentioned he felt the brake pedal was mooshy. Some of the pads had separated from the backing plate and had a curvature to them. Pressing the brake pedal first flattened the pad before it would actually cause retarding force. 4 wheels worth of brake pads are on order. Surprisingly, they were quite inexpensive.

Meh. Not surprised. People will tell you parts are expensive for these. Sometimes that's true. But to the ElCheapo Brake Parts Company(tm) a brake pad is a brake pad, no difference to them if it's for a W123 or a Subaru Justy.

This. Even if it were a metric ton of cash...

Easy to spend other peoples' money. It's getting a set of $200 Hankook tires on the stock 14" Bundt Pan wheels. I don't want to lower it, since it may get driven in snow and also may see some autocross duty...
VCH nice pickup. I have a spare set of hubcaps that are the same color as your car. BGkast gave me a ton of w123 parts.

I put many miles on a W124. The only parts that were expensive were internal engine components (oil pump). Other than that, no surprises.

look for frozen slide pins or improperly installed pads on the calipers with the bent backing plates.

I will, thanks for the head's up. The calipers looked to be in good shape, from a cursory inspection; brake hoses, too. But calipers were pretty inexpensive, too, if they need replacing.
Got the tires today! $250 after all taxes, fees, valve stems, etc, for 4 Hankook Optimos, mounted on the 14" bundt pans.
I'm pretty sure that Auto ADD was coined by someone talking about you.
Cool wagon. When will it be caged and Lemonsed.

If the car dies on me, and I decide to part it out, you'll be the first one I ask about the headlights.
Just got 3 boxes in the mail last night- two from IPD for my Volvo and one from Rock Auto for the Mercedes. Mrs VCH told me she was going to wrap them and stick them underneath the tree for me.
Well, change of course. I got new tires on the W123 "wagen" and was all set to install the new brake pads and exhaust when along comes an offer to buy her. So I pocketted a nice chunk of cash and the car's going off to someone who has many fewer cars than I do, and can hopefully lavish some more love and attention upon her. Just as well, really. I need to get back to the Town and Country. Nothing gets done around Christmas. No-Thing.
