More local classifieds goodness.

Quick glance coughed up an 85 200sx turbo. Hatchback, 5 speed, blue. Actually looks really nice, asking 1500 bones. I'm looking for my BIL, but damn I like this. I'm assuming the turbo is a bit of a rare bird, being as I had not heard of it. My local votech had one that a student had abandoned, it sat for four years, its time was up and they squished it :(

I'm not totally interested in an aftermarket, or the fact that the s13 is better, just wanting to know if it's worth buying, or a huge pile.

Pretty reliable, baby 300zx essentially.

Rear suspension isn't the greatest for performance driving, but is fine if left in good repair.

Correct. I had a 1987 SE (VG30). The CA18ET is a pretty good motor. You could always go SR20, KA24 or even CA18DET, which is a phenomenal motor for how cheap they usually are. They are pretty light. I liked the interior. Watch for rust like any car of the era. The suspension is nothing to write home about on them but it isn't bad either.

Well, the VG30's have a tendency to pop head gaskets at higher mileage (stock radiator is kinda inadequate, ask me how I know), but alas...

While my opinion is worth what you paid for it, I think they are cool!

yeah, EVERYBODY loves the Corollas of the same vintage, but that car has IRS, and TURBO (prob has little turbo light to tell you how much fun you're having, too!). No drift tax, though. I'd say pull the trigger.

I owned a 1985 non-turbo. I would buy it.

Check rust, interior parts are rare, I struggled with my fat hands and doing anything around the engine, the rear end IRS squat under acceleration is fun, and the rear hatch weighs a ton.

I loved that car (except in deep Chicago snow). I will throw some JCCS pics up later for you.

BUY IT!

Love those things and agree, it's like an AE86, only better looking. I'd love to have one.

They are rare around here, but I'd buy one in a heartbeat. And the rear suspension is pretty much what we thought was the bees knees when it was in a 510.
