I come to the ultimate altar of automotive wisdom with sacrifices of craft beer:

And now on to the issue. The check engine light came on last night in my 2005 Focus ST. Had the code read today, the code is P0193 - "Fuel Rail Pressure Circuit Sensor A High Input". The car doesn't feel like it's running any worse than normal right now.

2 questions:

  1. Money is a bit tight right now - is this a part that fails suddenly, or will I have enough warning to get the replacement part before it leaves my family stranded?

  2. The repair instructions look pretty simple - sensor sits right on top of the engine, relieve all the fuel pressure before starting, two bolts, replace sensor. In order to relieve all the fuel pressure, do I need to do anything other than pull the fuel pump fuse, run it until it dies, and then crank a couple seconds to make sure?

Thanks everyone!
