So I finally started digging into the truck today and decided I'd start by gutting the interior to find what was making the truck smell like rotting flesh, I suspect it's a dead mouse but I didn't find it yet. What I did find was was some rather great ventilation.

Now my intentions with this truck were cheap 360 swapped beater that might make it to the $2017 challenge If I accidentally get it finished by then and could swing the expenses of the trip. So while I new it was rusty, I figured it was mild rust in the rockers and I'd just ignore it. But I'm not sure I actually have enough metal here to mount a seat, so I think I should do something about it. I have a whole extra cab that I'm fairly certain is way more solid than this (haven't pulled the carpet yet), but I'm not sure how to go about picking it up off the donor trucks frame and putting it on this frame. First thought was building a gantry rig to lift the cab up and roll the frame out from under it. 2nd thought was take as much off the cab as possible and be real careful with the engine hoist. Not sure which one has a better chance of working.

Any input would be appreciated.

360 = Dodge correct?

You can probably buy floor pans from LMC Truck.

Yep, cab floors are $70. Cut out the old, weld in the new.

Linky to catalog.

Oldtin's thoughts on buddies and beers work pretty well too. You can add pizza if they are stubborn.

I'd probably be inclined to replace the floor if it was me though.

This one is a '95. I'm suspicious of the '89 Because it has like one tiny spot of rust in the outer door skin and squeaky clean floors. Looks like LMC has the floors for this truck for $100 per side.

The problem with the beer plan is that none of my friends drink.

You can also use a couple engine hoist or one and a well placed 2x4 jig.

You'll need to log in to post.
