Since its the day before my first track day I am going to start packing up camera gear and supplies.
Is there anything that I should add to my list to bring with me?
So far my list is:
Camera equipment (for work), helmet, snacks, water, folding chair, folding table , sunscreen, hat.
Note book and track map to keep your thoughts straight as you get used to the car/track
In reply to ChrisTropea :
Being a journalist these are probably already on your list but for those that are following along notepad and something to write with.
I always have a notepad in the camera case but Ill print out and bring a track map too.
Any chance of rain? If so, something like a tarp to keep your stuff dry once you take it out of the car.
As far as tools go, IMHO the minimum set is a tire pressure gauge and a torque wrench with a socket that fits the lugnuts.
Does the car burn oil? If so then I'd bring an extra quart or two.
Windex and paper towels/rag.
Make sure you have clothing that meets the requirements for the day. This is probably not an issue in November, but if you're in the habit of wearing shorts and sandals you might need to bring closed toe shoes and long pants.
I don't do this but smart people I know bring an umbrella to the race track. They're great for keeping both sun and rain off.
Make sure the gas tank is full. You'll burn a lot of fuel.
Luckily the car is a loaner from the track so it should be good to go when we show up.
Umbrella and detailing supplies are going on the list tho.
And I spun the car on my out lap. At least it can only get better from here.

Cold tires, cold brain!
Spinning is learning. Atleast it's not your own car :-)
Getting that out of the way early is probably not the worst way to do it.
Yeah I am glad I know what that feels like now. Hopefully next time out I can get some clean but slow laps in and get data from the Catalyst.
My first track day was a success and I am hooked. More details to come in the story and video but it was a good day and the Garmin Catalyst is really cool device.

I'm looking forward to the story. I'd also be interesting an seeing your list of what to bring for a first time track day from your fresh perspective.
Post track day I got a subscription to iRacing and spent part of the weekend learning how to use it.
I also have been window shopping Miata's on Marketplace but I need to finish my current project before I buy a track car but I cant wait to get back to the track.
