As a purveyor and aficionado of these land yachts, you don't steer them, you point them.  Prayers help.

They focused on comfort, which meant big squishy bushings, strange camber/caster curves, and steering ratios that resulted in 2,396 turns lock-to-lock.

71-74 was actually a GREAT time for cars that ran brilliantly.  Low compression, ported vacuum advance, new ignition technology.... heck, you could almost start them without touching the throttle on a cold day.  Auto manufacturers actually breathed a sigh of relief after the years of muscle cars and tweaking.  They could finally build an engine that started easily, ran smoothly, and didn't have to be convinced to run.
