GRMers, I'm recently the proud owner of a G2/O2L Civic that came with a Brantz Tripmeter 2S.  It receives input off the VSS and appears to work, incrementing mileage as appropriate (I haven't played with it much).  I know this one is a bit "old school", and am aware there are a lot of stage rally competitors running apps on tablets/phablets/whatever that probably can do a similar (or better job).  We are redoing a lot of the wiring in the car as part of a drivetrain R&R, so would either be cleaning up the Brantz wiring or installing a mount and setting up for a tablet, potentially with a Dual XGPS160 external GPS unit for better accuracy.

What does the hive say and/or have experience with?  The benefit of the Brantz is that (A) I have it and (B) it's paid for, whereas other options will cost at least some money.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Most people don't even use rally odos anymore. With notes or recce, in most cases, odos are only useful on transits.

Really? That seems surprising. You can still see them in WRC cars.

Thanks guys.  I know there's at least one rally we were looking at (Black River Stages) that doesn't have recce, but I guess that's a moot point now as it's been canceled for 2018.  :(  It sounds like it may be easiest to reconnect the Brantz...there if we need it, cheap to ignore if we don't.  This car is eating enough cash getting other things set right vs worrying about whizbang new apps.  :)
