Right before you said he should buy anything else...
To tow constantly. Jeeze people, reading comprehension! OP said it's going to tow 2-3 times a year, so obviously comment #2 no longer applies.

E36 M3 man, *any* truck that runs is worth $1500 bones! I still wouldn't tow with it (there has to be a tree-fiddy Chebby for sale somewhere).
That sure looks like you said he shouldn't tow at all with it. Since he is going to tow sometimes it seems like you are saying he shouldn't buy it.
But what would I know, I have no reading comprehension.

I said I wouldn't tow with it. (I also said it was worth $1500).

I bought a V10 van to just tow with (06 E-350). Only had it for about 3500 miles but it has not blown up yet.
It tows a lot better than my ranger used to.

Reading through this, if you take out Jav's posts and the direct responses to them, the response is quite positive. If it currently runs and drives ok, is not on fire, and the vin matches the title, you can't go wrong for $1500
Sorry, but I would take the 350 over the V10 too and if I could find a 454/460 in ANYTHING that is what I would be using even it it was still a 3spd auto. Point being, I can get a 350/454/460 fixed pretty much on a Sunday at 9pm and be able to drive it to work at 5am, if needed.

I have a fleet of fail that nearly rivals halftracs......I have no worries about it being my only means of getting to work. Plus if I had to, I could always drive the pedovan back and forth.....
Basically, I've been told of the plug issue, timing chain issue, coil pack issues, and to make sure it doesn't run hot....all of these issues are NOT exclusive to the v10.....they're shared amongst all the modular motors of that era. I've also been informed the v10 has all the same running gear behind it that the 7.3psd had, so that's all nearly bulletproof.

We also had a 1990 Extended Cab 2WD 460 powered truck and it was Crap compared to the V10's. And you had to ride in a 1990's truck cab with 1990's truck suspension.
Normally I'd agree but I read in another thread that they haven't made a real truck since at the latest the early 90's. New trucks are far too plush to haul anything more than rubber testicles back and forth to Dairy Queen. The next time I need a tow vehicle it will have to be a diesel, and to make sure its a real truck it will have to have a milk crate for a driver's seat, no suspension, windows or any of that other girly crap. The brakes will be a large lever with a piece of wood to rub on the back wheels to keep things simple and repairable since I will only brake down at night in the middle of nowhere with nothing to fix it but what I find on the side of the road and a Slim Whitman cassette the previous owner left in the milk crate.

Whoa! You got a free Slim Whitman tape? Lucky!!

Dude, it's $1500 and you own other cars. Just buy the damn thing! (Swap in a PS when the V10 pukes )

It doesn't look too bad.....its a '99, not an '01. Needs a pass side front door, fender, tow mirror, and rear tires(have the tires), still a good deal?
Yes. Does it NEED a door, as in "it doesn't have one at all?" Or does it just have some damage?
How bad are the door and fender? I would probably just take a BFH and bang it into kinda right shape and say good enough.
where can I buy that truck for $1500??!?!?!

By moving completely away from civilization......
The pass side door, fender and mirror are pretty fubar, and the parts to fix it are cheap.....they made a bazillion super duty trucks after all....

Thats a pic my friend took when he bought it.......so its purchased already waiting on me.
Hell man, that beast is probably worth $1500 in scrap alone. You just can't lose at that price, even if the V10 barfs 10 plugs the first time you start it up!
Bash the door and fender out with a BFH, replace the mirror, and drive the thing. Don't you dare wash it.
