Just got some rpf wheels. I want to do the valves myself. I don't trust the local tire shop with something this nice and "different".

walk me through it like I'm 12.

Get a valve stem installation tool , thread the valve into it, pop it into place.  They're not much effort.

You could probably get away with using a pair of side cutters to grab them, too, or pull on a metal valve cap so you don't risk damaging the threads.

The RPF1 comes with the bolt on valve stems like this.

Oh.  Valve, gasket, wheel, gasket, washer, nut.  Both gasket snoots go inside the hole in the wheel.

I berking hate bolt in valve stems.  That design looks worse than most, the threads are exposed to pressurized air, so potential leak.  If the nut loosens, the valve will blow out, whereas on traditional types if the nut loosens, air pressure holds them in place.

In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :

I agree. And this is why I ask. The Enkei comes with these. On one hand I say "if Enkei includes it, it must be up to par". Otoh, I've never used anything but the "regular" style.

You could buy yourself some of the 949 racing ones. I've had a set sitting around for months and haven't got around to getting them installed, it's a lot easier before you get tires mounted.
