It would appear my 2011 fit is in need of a new battery. 60k, but five years old. It died on SWMBO this morning. A jump got it back up and going. This is the second occurance in a week and it's never been replaced. According to the flat brim hat wearing bros at fitfreak.net the battery for this car is only made by one company. And it's a 151r. According to these boneheads http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-generation-ge-08-13/68605-group-51r-battery-no-problem.html A 51r "fits" but needs trimming. Anyone else replace the Honda Fit battery lately? A quick search shows the Internet has them for 84$, but that requires paying shipping and is expensive. Local dealer has it for $99.95. I'm likely doing that today as shipping would be more otherwise.

Going to resurrect this one again. Pretty sure no one here has experienced this though.

$99.95 seems like a decent price for a battery.

Yeah I'll bite the bullet here soon. The weird part is the battery has been working fine since. It's only when the car has sat awhile (like when we were gone a week) or if it's super cold outside. The wife knows how to jump a battery though (I'm so proud!) so at least she isn't stranded as long as other humans are around.

In reply to Trackmouse:

I replaced the one in our 2009...a long time ago(probably about due again with 178k on the car). I don't remember having difficulty finding a replacement, but I don't recall the details either - I probably just walked into NAPA and picked up the battery they said was correct. I know I didn't have any problems with installation, and it's worked fine for at least 4+ years, if not longer.

I just bought one yesterday from Interstate for a customer. They are quite expensive per pound...tiny little things. I wonder if a Goldwing battery is larger?

Not really any options, other than a remote mount kit in the hatch.

Experienced what exactly? Replacing a Fit battery? Sure have, but I didn't reply since I couldn't figure out what you were trying to ask in your original post...Other than simply who has replaced one, for all the good that would do for you. If there is some other question you're actually trying to ask, maybe you could be a little more specific.

As far as I can tell though, it appears to be a pretty straight forward situation that the 'flat-brim-hat wearing boneheads' already took the time/effort to figure out, and so graciously shared on behalf of those less knowledgeable. Either drop in a stock replacement battery, or modify a slightly larger/stronger/more common battery to fit.

Oh it's you again... too bad you wasted time coming here to puke garbage out your mouth. Sorry you wasted your time. You know, we all get a finite amount of time in this earth. I would advise you to use yours better.

In reply to iceracer:

I haven't done that yet but if it were a charging or load issue I would be experiencing this a lot more common, since that would note failing components. And as we all know, failing components don't just decide to work one day and be "good to go". It did this last year too when the weather got cold. (it's only 5yrs old, and a Honda)

If you're unwilling to accept assistance from those you would treat as lesser than yourself, it's no skin off my back...But it is mildly amusing. LOL

Lol. You offered no assistance. None. You suggested I go with what those crackheads at fitfreak deem as a viable option. You failed to respect my requirements. And How did I treat you as a lesser? The way see it I have treated you in like kind, making us equals. If you feel the way I talk back to you is in bad taste, then perhaps your own medicine is what you needed a taste of.

I hope your day is as pleasant as you are!

A great judge of ones character is how they treat minimum wage and similar workers. Your character is on full display here. Then you increased the display or poor character and childish petulance with your observations of those on another forum and further doubled down by lashing out at someone here as well. Why the Hell would anyone want to help you? The majority of people who have tried (store employees, fit forum members, driven5) so far has been the target of insults from you and then you complain when the likely answer doesn't fit your "requirements." Classy.

You have yet to actually point out why the advice from all of those insulted parties isn't the correct advice other than because you don't like it and you've stuck your metaphorical fingers in your ears and are acting like a 4 year old.

You lash out at those suggesting batteries and how to get them. You come up with excuses for those suggesting looking elsewhere because of your resistance to the battery option. What exactly are you looking for? Rainbows and unicorns?

Had you actually stated any requirements, I may have been better able to respect them...Just like had you actually asked the question(s) you wanted answered, I (and others) also may have been better able to provide a more detailed response. Oh well.

Jesus Christ. "Anyone else replace the Honda Fit battery lately?" . I don't give a E36 M3. I asked a question. You failed to read AND FAILED to answer. For the love of god stop replying if you can't read. America has failed you.

Driven5 comes into my threads now and shoots his proverbial load all over, no one cares nor moderates. I don't care. Eff the whole freaking system. I can't compete with this level of stupid.

Oh, and I love that keethrax decides to join in. Where did you come from?

Yes.

...I still don't see how that helps, but I guess I don't have to.

You asked and then you got answers from multiple sources. You proceeded to E36 M3 all over them and those providing them. If you don't want to be called on childish behavior, the simplest answer is to man up and act like an adult. Probably too much to hope for though.

I can assure you I am glad to moderate, but I don't read every thread looking for E36 M3storms. If there is an issue you need to reach out to a mod and let us know about it. Locking this thread due to hubris.
