Someone didn't read the rules, then Must be produced within the last 10 years, and dollar amount is price as sold new.
Anywho, mine's $20k

Not because I don't want to, but because it belongs to SWMBO, and I'm not allowed to, hahaha.

Classy.
I'd offer my own pick, but the Mustang 302s is tough to beat.
If I had to pick something different, I suppose a Ron Fellows Z06 @ $77,000 might do the trick as well.
In the real world, I couldn't sign the check. (Both because I'm not that well heeled and because I'm a true believer in the "slow car fast" philosophy.) But it's kind of a fun exercise.

The purpose of the rules, stupid or not, is to provided a set structure for the game. If we didn't have the rule about cost when new, then the guy I know who won a Z06 with a $1 raffle ticket could post here and say his car which cost him nothing will embarrass your RX7 that cost 20,000 times more money. Then some other dude who got some amazing car as a gift would post and say "Ha, you paid a whole $1 for that Ford? I got this Lamborghini for nothing!" and the whole thing just falls apart.

I guess I'm confused---we're talking about a car that we'd be happy with---stock (aside from alignment and tires) with no other modifications and come in the cheapest?
And--it has to be within the last ten years?
So--that means something that can handle well enough with stock shocks. Hmmm. S2000 CR? MINI Cooper S? I'd go with a MINI Cooper with the factory sport suspension and sport seats. Just add alignment and Hoosiers. Lots and Lots of Hoosiers.

the whole 10 years thing bothered me. In the last 10 year all the nanny state stuff has become standard.how can you find a stock car in the last 10 years that you wouldn't have to modify.
So, you don't like the cost when new rule or the 10 year limit, I suppose you also don't like the no modification rule either? Then what you want is a "what car?" thread and there are already hundreds of those going on this forum.

No there are plenty that don't. Caterhams, Radicals, Ariels, etc.
$185,000. I can dream can't I ?
"Hard to beat a used (or new) Miata or Z06"
I could never take the Miata. It just begs for mods, and there are so many that are so cheap.
You would at least need springs and maybe shocks to get rid of the 4x4 look.
Me - I just want a simple car like this - technically it is new. About $180k

Well, are we talking daily driver, weekend car, track car? Cars I would consider driving without modication:
Miata touring with the PHRT and suspension package
EVO
WRX STI
C6 Vette
Nissan GTR
BMW M1
The new Mclaren mp4-12c
