While shopping for Boxsters, I've recently become aware of early 996 C2 Cabriolet prices dipping to $15-17k. These cars have around 100k on them so I'm wondering what kinds of things start to go wrong/wear out around there. No interest in Tiptronics so don't worry about issues with them. I'm familiar with the IMS and RMS issues. I'm also competent and willing with a wrench. So GRM brain trust, what do you think?

Oops, didn't check that forum . Thanks Sonic!
Well, it looks like Sonic already pointed you in the right direction .
The C2 has a couple of advantages over the C4 I have, namely a slightly bigger cargo space and obviously a less complicated drive system. The Tiptronic actually isn't that bad and supposedly is fairly robust. Mind you, if I didn't get mine as cheap as I got it and am trying to convince my wife to drive it, too, I would've gone for a six speed.
Forgot to mention, Internet wisdom suggests that lower mileage cars are at higher risk for IMS problems, with the higher mileage ones they've either been replaced already or are less likely to implode if they made it that far.
