Everyone: this is a hoot! I never realized just how many shades of blurple there were. Vinyl adds some more fun too, and im more than willing to try it! And in-violet/plum crazy is what started me down this path. Dad always wanted an in-violet 71 340 duster with all the blackouts and stripes, and they do look good.....
BMW Mystic Blau is more on the blue side, but has purple overtones.
MINI Purple Haze is similar but a little more purple.
Metallics are beautiful, but on a circle-tracker styled car, I'm leaning toward nonmetallic.
Always been a huge fan of Neon Lapis Blue, but you already have one.
I'd look at the NuBeetle color catalog - they came in a lot of good colors.
The bonnet is slightly different than the body because it was painted much more recently, but I do have the info for the single stage used in the bonnet.

Metallic stock cars are tough to keep nice but look really good. We used Ford Jewel Green for a season and constantly got complaints on how it looked.
as for blurples though I'd go with the GM Clossien (sp) blue.
Cloisonné. It's from the technique of painting ceramic enamel glaze over metal, and firing to a hard gloss.
Candy Purple.

That first 911 cabriolet in johndej's post could be Ocean Blue Metallic if it's a 1988 with factory paint (https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/OceanBlue%20Metallic)
Could be Iris Blue also, but not correct for the era. Both colors change a lot in different light. Ocean Blue is a little darker and greener, Iris Blue more purple. Could also be Zenith Blue.
I had my '72 cuda painted a rolls royce blurple that I saw on a car in the bodyshop and had to have. Not as dramatic as Iris Blue but still pretty good. I think it was Seychelles Blue:
a left field option, BMW individual violet
Mercedes Slate Blue is what I was looking for yesterday.

Look at the big MoPar brain on Chandler! I knew those color name distinctions a long time ago, but forgot at some point.

The Porsche was Sir Mix-A-Lots and probably custom.
McLaren is Lantana Purple
RX7 is from an Initial D still but this copy car is 5N brave blue mica
I like blurple too.
FedEx purple with blue flake could be pretty spicy.
My 240nerdom remembers that Nissan had some good blurples in the 90s

I'm partial to Testor's midnight blue metallic.
Mazda "Stormfront metallic" 33D on our 2007 Mazda 6 is a neat grey/blue/purple depending on the light.
It's not the most exciting thing on a family sedan but I think it would be pretty cool on a sports car or muscle car.
