The only way they look halfway good is with the covers on, and they aren't easy to find. Luckily, Rota makes a replica of them so you don't have to pay an obnoxious price for old used wheels that make your car look awful. You can instead pay a lower price for shiny new wheels that make your car look awful.92CelicaHalfTrac wrote:What were those things called?93EXCivic wrote: Weren't there some cool Mugens that kinda fit that style?Yes.... but "cool" is subjective. I think they're positively hideous.
The cf-48's are fondly remembered by 1st gen Crx owners. Mugen introduced the wheels (in the US) soon after the cars were put on the market here. They only measured 13x5.5 (at first) but they were MUGEN's for crying out loud! And they fit perfectly on Preludes because those cars still used 13" wheels at the time.

Oooh...... love me some ATS Cups.
I had some 13x6 Fondmetal knock-offs on my first Crx. They looked great on the car and were wider and cheaper than most other wheels available at the time.
IIRC, the Cups are available in a 15x8 size, too.
Those ATS Cups are cool, but maybe a bit too conventional... They also look low offsettey. (So do most of the others in this thread, including the ones I posted.) I considered modifying the hubs to make them a little less rediculous (and running spacers for the stock wheels) but there just isn't any room to do that on the front. Thanks, Lotus.
Also, BERKELEY YEAH.
Sadly, the punters in the Vortex thread where I found those seem to think they're really rare and expensive. And when those guys think wheels are expensive...
Did someone say "just put some Panasports on it" yet? Because we've all seen how they look pretty nice on everything.

I like those on an Elan... notsomuch otherwise.
Funny thing about buying things on the Vortex... while they like to 'think' things are rare and valuable, if you see a set for sale and wave real cash in front of them, you may be surprised at what things will really sell for.
I bought my BBS RX II's for basically the cost of the tires that were mounted on them. The seller wasn't all that happy, but I had cash and he needed to pay the rent.

Nothing somewhat about it. Looks like a descendant of the Mopar Rallye wheel:
Saab seems to use a lot of three spoke wheels, I think they are 4x100?
And these MKI MR2 wheels should be common, but undersized.

Those are some of my favorite wheels of all time.
This thread reminds me that I really love the Elan. Sexy. However, I thought you meant these kinds of wheels:
THOSE are spokeless!!!! Just avoid these please:
Are those spokes supposed to look like what they look like?

That is too funny right there.

^^ If they actually made those (somehow?) to fit a car I would rock them in two seconds flat.
Yeah, I really didn't know what to call these things in the thread title. "Dish" wheels seems to fit, but that has another meaning these days... (And my car with its offset can't support ANY of that kind of "dish"!) Maybe "disc" wheels? That's kind of redundant.
Also, stop quoting those dang hootus-wheels in my thread! Once was enough. I don't need to see them anymore!
do a search on Yahoo Japan... all kinds of wheels there...

Just a few I've bid upon...
the set I scored
I'm rocking these on my CSX (factory Centurion II's):
Mine are painted gunmetal though. They look cool. See?
