Bag is all packed for today’s adventure: six cameras (four film, two digital).

Put a few more miles on the Escalade V tonight–back to the same parking lot as earlier, in fact, to pick up dinner. (Someone wanted Chinese tonight.)

We’re still working on the same reset of the trip odometer from earlier today.

Down to 7.2 mpg for the trip there.

(Sorry, no pics of dinner; the veggie egg foo young was quite good.)

But up to 7.5 mpg after the trip back. Slowing down for the older gentleman walking his Corgi must have helped nudge things in the right direction.

This vehicle puts out more hp than do the Cadillacs racing at Le Mans today, so gas mileage will be what it will be.

So Cadillac has finally come full circle back to when I grew up. Massive, excessive, big engine, terrible gas mileage. Where's the Cimarron when we need it most?

Yesterday: Ormond Beach to Lakeland and back in the Escalate V.

Trip odometer set back to zero.

Not much traffic on the way to Lakeland. Sunny.

Any guesses what kind of fuel economy numbers we’re going to see today?

I used the adaptive cruise to keep pace with traffic and took the express lanes to avoid congestion.

Fuel economy when I exited I-4 in Lakeland: 18.6 mpg.

I know, I was impressed, too.

And fuel economy in the Escalade V by the time I got to my destination: 18.4 mpg. Distance for the trip, as you can see, was 112 miles.

Obligatory parking shot. I know, I’m on the line. The lot was tight. That’s my friend’s Civic, so I knew she wouldn’t mind. Plus she’s parked next to an island.

Time to head home yesterday evening, and this drive was less fun.

Lots of time spent just sitting there on I-4.

Traffic finally let up by the time I hit the express lanes through Orlando. Again used the adaptive cruise and kept with traffic.

Fuel economy dropped to the low 17s on the return trip thanks to the delays but, by the time I got home, I got it up to 17.9 mpg.

I so wanted to break into the 18s for the entire trip.

Escalade?  You can keep it, Cadillac.   I'd rock a CT4-V, though.

What's sad is that mpg is better than I get in my 1500....

0-60 and 1/4 mile times are also slower than my F-150.

Does it at least feel fast?

Is this turning into an EV forum? Depressed about the gas mileage was the least of my thoughts about a 700HP Uber sclade.

Does it smoke the tires? How's it do on track? Is the traction control able to be defeated? Any difference running race gas? Does it come with a mullet?

I want to say it’s about on par with my 911.

I really expected low teens, if that.

As a Tundra owner, I'm one of the few people qualified to be jealous of those fuel economy numbers.

I my Frontier also averages 18.6 mpg and I dont have a supercharged V8 so I guess thats not too bad.

I assume premium/90+ gas is required with the blower? That's going to be a painful fill-up at some point...

This is amazing! There is something satisfying about a giant SUV that can move like that. Surprised the tow rating is so low, older GM SUV's have been rated higher, i assume it is soft suspension related.
