Unfortunately, a decent, modern turbo diesel engine will cost you $5K+. There goes Locost. More Midcost at that point.
Yeah, he's on the yahoo Locost NA list. He's going to have it at the KC English car show at the end of August.
Someone my friend knows got a VW TDI from pick and pull for like $250 for the engine/tranny/wiring harness etc, so its possible to get them for cheap, but then again thats not exactly a normal thing to find. lol You can get a 1.6 turbodiesel vw engine for $under $3k with 78 hp, there arent really any others that are small/light/normally that cheap tho.

Jack McCornack from Kenetic? If so, his Kubota turbo diesel Locost was wrecked and totaled. He bought back the wreck for the engine and some components.

Alternativly most tractor place around here are REPOing tractors every day from Harry Home owners that should have never bought one in the first place. Many are so trashed that theres no re-sell left in them so they become parts machines. Bett you could find a great motor in one. Most of the ones i've looked at have bent and cracked bucket arm ect cause they don't know WTF to do or try to lift to heavy of a weight on the corner of the bucket etc.
