I got picked to be a Beta Tester for a new cell phone app thingy that uses your OBD port for fun stuff. The dongle came in yesterday and I had a ball telling everyone about it.
Anyways, most of the testers are all about green driving hippie stuff, I'm helping them with performance testing
If you have an OBDII car, and will be at the ORPCA Autocross on 8/11, then I want to talk to you.
so this is unique from, say, having torque pro and an OBDlink MX?

I'm not sure. My BIL works for the app writing/website company (giant one and he rakes in dough as a programmer/nerd) which is how I got in.
It's an OBD dongle hardware with bluetooth built in that talks to my smartphone. Right now it can do speed, braking/turning g-forces, estimate MPG's, and track mileage driven. They are adding functionality to read codes and pop up a list of dealers/service providers which has some unique promise.
I'm trying to get them to have multiple menus, so the be good/green one for when your kid takes the car, and a motorsports one for the track, etc.
It's called "Dash" BTW.
Keep us informed. I have several cars with no speedo and use my phone to track speed. This would be a great addition.
NB track cars all now have 12volt plugs

Well I just used it for the first time. It's slick. The dongle is powered through the OBD port. The bluetooth connection is great. It tracks actual MPG via the odometer and fuel injector duty cycle No GPS so the battery drain on the phone is low. It looks like it can do MPH via wheel speed sensors.

Reminds me of when a friend of mine was trying to get me to check out his window sealant. I wanted nothing to do with touching his caulk.
So? We all want to see it now. Why is there no pics of your little dongle?
Sounds like it gives similar functionality to the $20 chinese OBD2 bluetooth dongle and $5 Torque App on my android phone. I would be interested to see how they compare side-by-side,

Bring em to the next AX and we can do that!
Is it iPhone compatible? I've wanted an OBD scanner app for a while now, but no options for Apple

I heard it was small.
So that's that the kids are calling it these days....

Yup! They are working on Android and iPhone concurrently. I'm on the droid team but I can let you know how the Apple stuff is coming (IIRC, BIL is doing testing as well in his personal cars/iPhones).

precisely what i was getting at. i love watching the real time sensor info.
Interested in this as well. Using the GoPoint BT1 bluetooth dongle with the Harry's Lap Timer application on the iPhone.
Currently, that product appears to be the only bluetooth product available that works with iOS devices without jailbreaking them.
Works slick though-- with the BT1 doing the OBD data and Harry's Lap Timer giving me synch points with a wifi-enabled GoPro, you can get pretty neat video!

Well, I have some trips on it now. Definiely needs some work. It does use GPS for the speedo. MPG instantaneous and average is the main screen. It measures your trips and scores them.

Careful, man! You've got to slow down or you're going to wear out your dongle!
Still no picture of your dongle?
Worst "look at my ______" thread ever.
You'll go blind if you play with your dongle too much!
Anthony Weiner is a GRM'er?
My wife wouldn't let me put my dongle in her car.
Well, that happens more often after you get married and have kids...
Have you asked them why it doesn't work on the Javelin?
