Its autotragic, is the a reasonably priced performance automatic transmission or do I need to convert it to manual

The 4eat is a reliable transmission, but I would never call it a "performance" transmission. If you are feeling froggy you could put in a transgo kit in one of the older 4 speeds.

I hope it has the 2.2l at least because the 1.8 with auto and AWD will be one SLOW car.

Ive driven the 2.2/auto and it's not particularly slow. What do you want to do with the car? I raced my friend's 2.2/auto impreza in H-stock and was only a couple tenths off class lead, but it wasnt exactly a nationally competitive h-stock group.

Here is the car, rough doesnt begin to describe it. Its almost scrap metal but I think it would be a good learning experience

Eventually it would probably get a trans conversion but if the autotragic is good in it thats one less thing that has to be done initially

Well if you are going to pull the engine anyways...

It wouldn't be that much more work to swap to manual.

BUT, if you keep the auto it helps to drive it in "3" instead of "d" unless you are cruising on the freeway.

You'll need to log in to post.
