Our team's Datsun 280Z is looking looking pretty beat up after a crash last year. We were able to straighten out the frame and it felt great at our last race but we were black flagged with an hour left because our good fender was so rotted at the bottom it became loose and started flapping. Didn't know lemons cars could be black flagged for being too rusted and crappy.
Anyway my goal before the next race is to make the car look less terrible. I'd rather just paint it then come up with a goofy theme so I'm looking for ideas. Something I can pull off in my driveway with tractor paint and a gallon of bondo. Also new wheels we ordered are bronze if that matters and I'm trying to avoid the BRE livery since its been overdone.
Here is what I'm dealing with. Yes, I have my work cut out for me.
The good side. (it use to be the driver's side, then the passenger, and now it's back to the driver's side again)
Leave the damage, get silver paint and a little red, go with a "used Kamikaze Zero fighter" theme. Maybe add part of a broken prop to the nose or something.
In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:
This. This is the only option. Either that or the obvious BRE ripoff. I think Kamikaze still wins though.
Bonus points if you drive into every American car you see in the pits

Ha, should have painted it that way sooner. I already crashed it into an Oldsmobile which is how it got this messed up to begin with.
In reply to PseudoSport:
Can you get the Olds team to theme their car as a US Naval ship and just make a whole thing of it?

I know it a 240 not a 280 but:
This?
Bronze colored wheels instantly make me think of 1980's Tamiya R/C

Its a crap can race car so just pick any livery you like
This is a personal favorite and with the fastback would probably look awesome
The prodrive astons look good
Can never go wrong with a gulf car
Or do a sunoco datsun. Replace sunoco camaro with sunoco datsun, then on the front fender put your team name and replace the chevy emblem its written in, with a datsun emblem, well really just make the top and bottom round and the ends square.
How about something similar to the Martini livery, but instead of Martini, put Datsun.

If it was a 300ZX I would say go with overlapping rounded parallelograms like a lowrider. But for the first-gen shape, and since it's already olive, I second the Divine Wind theme.
I vote Bob Sharp. Always loved that on those cars.
I think you should do the anti-BRE and copy the Horst Kwech livery.
I always liked this look. Go a little crazy with the color choices if you want to be different.
I thought of another option if we don't have to stick to things that make since on a Datsun.

I'd copy this and replace "Calsonic" with "Catatonic" or maybe something else funnier.

I built the 1/24 version of that!
You need a psycotic version of this on the hood.
