I need to replace these on my truck because the threads are so damaged and rusty a not won't thread on anymore, but they are long discontinued and just different enough than a normal bolt (the stepped part near the bolt head) that I don't think a normal bolt would fit right.  Are there any options to replace them other than just trying to find a set with good threads in the junkyard? I had no idea how many hard to find parts there would be for this truck before I got it, it was even easier to get parts for an 87 Alfa Milano when I had one lol.

I would use regular bolts of comparable grade without even a second thought. Does the bushing ride directly on the bolt or is there a sleeve for the bushing?

I'm not saying this is right, or even a good idea, but I'd use regular bolts without a second thought. It's shocks on an old F250. Any tiny amount of play would be inconsequential in this application.

FWIW, my daughter recently parted ways with an '89 F250 that had regular old grade 8 bolts for the lower rear shock mounts.

Oddly they are metric bolts (12x1.75), I need to check to see if a regular bolt that size would fit through the sleeve, but I think the main problem would be that the bolt would not quite fit tightly into the bracket on the axle.  Maybe it doesn't make that much difference though, I was thinking it was important to keep it from hanging up and down and wearing out the bracket on the axle.

Those bolts aren't supporting the weight of the vehicle.  They lead a pretty easy life and are nothing special. Regular old class 8.8 metric hardware will be fine
