It looks like a parts donor to me, and I really need the wheels for my challenge car, but I'm not in a position to buy a car 7 hours away just for the wheels. It would feel good to bring part of it to the challenge at least though.

I've got some vacation time saved up. I'm up for a fly and haul if it turns out the car needs transport somewhere.
The problem with donating it is that I spoke to the management about that and they want nothing to do with the liability of racecars. If it gets donated, it doesn't see the track.
P.s. It is a 3.4l.
sesto elemento and I just talked. My thought was the car seems not far from being Challengable. To honor Brian's wish to Challenge it I'd be willing to buy it. Would someone be willing/wanting to Challenge it? It's not going to be a top 10 car or anything but it sounds like a little brake work away from being a ticket to the Challenge and more importantly letting Brian's wishes come true. My thought for after the Challenge was zeroing the car out and then offering for free any parts for Challenge builds. This would allow the car to live on in other's builds. Crazy? Fun? Both?
I am about to have an engine less 4th gen dune buggy thingy with a roll bar. Not sure if that would help some how.

You are an awsome human being.
If you do this, and the 3.4 and 5 speed are healthy afterwards, ill buy it as a gift to my best friend for his truck.

Naw I just know how it is to dream about the Challenge. I did mental builds for years before finally making it. I'd love to help make Brian's build possible.
I know someone out there is dreaming of doing the Challenge but just don't have the car or needs that little extra push. Here's your chance to not only fulfill your dreams but continue Brian's dream also. Surely someone out there wants to build this car.

Holy cow, it's the GRM version of George Washington's cherry tree axe (over time replaced the head and the handle, is it still the real axe paradox). Take pimpm3's 2016 tub and add this motor for 2017. Then 2018 the motor transfers to a different project.....
If no one else steps in, I can drive it. I doubt my challenge project is ever getting done, so mighe as well offer what I can. Just need some advance warning so I can order a new lid. Unfortunately I am ill equipped to do the monkey wrenching, so im pretty useless in that respect. I'd pay my own way and all of that, of course.
I just put the FWD version of this engine in an 1987 Mazda rx7 with this same trans.
If anybody wants any pointers or swap questions answered, now would be the time to ask....

What kind of brake work is needed? I'm sure I'd have the parts for whomever buys it.
I'd really like to see this thing make the Challenge, but unfortunately I'm not going to be the guy to do it. Have neither the time for the project nor to make it to the Challenge . Plus, SWMBO has threatened if I drag another junk Crammit home I'll be sleeping in it.

To run it as is I don't think would take much. Do you think you could get it down to FL?
In reply to Furious_E:
I think it's just replacing the hard lines from MC out but sesto elemento might be able to give better insight.

I could, potentially, but it would involve me bribing another grm member. That starts to get expensive. Nice thing is, once it was here, it would be an easy run. I'm in orlando and all.
sesto elemento wrote: I can probably find time to finish plumbing brake and evap lines. They were crusty.
If you need parts, just let me know.
Update... Brian's wife and I talked, she thinks that he would've wanted the kids to finish the build. She is donating it to me for the purpose of building it with the kids and if we can swing it we'll build it and do the challenge if possible (probably not this year because $$$). I'm really happy because the car reminds me of him and he was a dear friend. It's gonna make the kids happy too, they loved him.

What would I need to get it here? My intent was to bribe another grm member to stick it on a trailer and bring it down. If you're doing a fly and drive that solves the major hurdle. I'm not quite 2 hours from gainesville, so as long as it ran, started, and stopped, and wouldn't get me more than medium arrested id be set. If you're driving it down, I would assume it did all the car like things it should. Throw some plates on it, and keep it at my apt. I sold all my tools in the midst of the divorce so theres that debacle, but I can make something happen if I had to.

This is much better than letting me near it.
