I am looking to reupholster some extra seats I have laying around for my 79 Spark Yellow RX-7. They offered a red brown vinyl with cloth red plaid inserts.
I want to do the seats in black vinyl with yellow/black/white plaid inserts. I have thusfar been unable to find a suitable fabric. I have a picture of what I want that they used to offer in the GLC but I dont have any of my pictures hosted online.
Any suggestions?
Host the pictures online?
I should. I have a lot of photos that I could post at various times.
Update we went to JoAnn Fabrics and picked up some plaid wool on sale. The wife is going to give it a shot and replace the inserts since the vinyl is in good shape. I will post pictures if it turns out well.

I tried to "embed" or whatever the photos but I suck at the computers.
This is my upholstery work. Leather. The whole Spanish cow was $230 delivered. I did the sewing myself on my grandmother's hand crank singer.
I took apart the first seat. It looks like it should be pretty basic to remove the insert then sew the new material back in. Ill let the wife have a look and tell me if I am crazy.
Any good ways to ad some bolstering to the stock foam?
So you're going for pretty much a stock TR7 plaid?
That'll be nifty....
Well those are stock seats that they offered in 79. So I was going for a plaid that they offered in the GLC.
Plans have changed after a quote of $350 per seat in material that wasn't what I wanted anyhow so we picked up some wool from JoAnn Fabric bargin bin. I tore the passenger seat apart this afternoon. I have some photos in the album now of the seat apart, the old covers and the new inserts the wife is going to try and sew in. I will keep it updated once we get it back together.
Here is the whole little album of the seat redo.
