ECU Reflash shootout. Do something like the NC Miata since it has so many options out there. It's just plug and play, drop in the tune and see what the rollers show. You could even have remote tuning versus hands on.

Can you post skid pad Gs? I have no idea what times for VIR or Gingerman are fast, but a street suspension pulling 0.97 Gs on the pad is petty good. Much like quarter mile times it's something easily compared.
SportCompactCar was very good at that.
Mustang Ecoboost, E46 BMW and Subaru would be great candidates; I'd bet the're is lot more variation in turbo cars.
How about Qjet tuning, a powerglide rebuild, and Buick Nailhead basics?
Ehhh?
Ehhh?
No one?
Wrong magazine?

G on a skid pad is mostly how good your tires are and where your alignment is, chassis dynamics don't really play a role because it is steady-state. You can have utter crap for suspension but make awesome numbers on a skid pad.

If you're checking canned tunes, it might also make sense to apply the reflash to several different test cars with different mods to see what mods the tune works best for. Chances are you may find a tune that works better with one combo but not others.
If by a reflash, you're going for things that allow you to adjust the tune instead of just opening a can of tuner, you'll probably want to devote most of your text to comparing the interface and ease of use; this is likely to differentiate tuning tools more than the dyno results.
If you do another ECU or fuel shootout, can you do it with a turbocharged car where cylinder pressure can actually be increased?
In reply to David S. Wallens :
Are you going to do a comparison article on these tuners? Do they work and are they worth the money?
