Very cool. I will be watching for updates.
Well, it's been a while since we last updated. It's been a hectic time. If you've been following along on facebook you've probably seen some exciting prep like the Versa getting a new rollbar.
And you might've also seen that the MR20 decided it wanted some of its inside parts to be on the outside.
This late in the game, a catastrophic engine failure looked to be a trip ender. But a band of internet heroes quickly put together a GoFundMe and shortly got the funds together for a new motor.
The "rest" week before the trip has turned into a motor swap week, which was unexpected but the TRIP IS STILL ON!

They don't need an engine failure to find a reason not to buy a Versa..I own one because it was hilariously cheap but that's the only redeeming factor.
My wife used to have a Versa and I thought it was a pretty great little hatchback. Decent ride, tossable, a bit of get-up and go, and it gobbled up mile after mile without issue.
Sure the interior was cheap as hell, but it was a cheap as hell car. I've never understood why people hate them so much.
Hey, I just realized you are probably going to be doing the May 20 Track Night at Gingerman. Not sure if your schedule has room for more, but the West Michigan Region SCCA is having an autocross during the day at Michigan's Adventure, which is in Muskegon about an hour north of Gingerman. It's a HUGE lot, and so far, the signup numbers are a little on the low side, so its looking like it could be a total hoot. The event chair is currently running One Lap of America, so I'm sure he'd help you would with run/work order so you can make the other event.
EDIT: Just looked up the track night - looks like its the 19th, not the 20th like I was thinking. Still, if you don't have plans for Saturday . . .
Time on the road hasn't afforded as much time to update this thread as we'd hoped but we're currently on the long haul to gingerman so I'll try to post a little recap. We started the journey at NOLA MSP, a track we're pretty familiar with. It was good to see lots of familiar faces.
From NOLA we hit the road to Memphis International Raceway. Despite having appearing to be little more than an oval, MIR turned out to be an exceptionally fun and challenging track and the people there were top notch. It's definitely on the list of tracks we want to return to.
Next up was Atlanta Motorsports Park. AMP has an extremely nice facility and a great track with tons of elevation changes and technical sections. Unfortunately our first session out was red flagged and the following group also ended up with a red flag incident and the event was called. All in all we ended up with about 4 laps. This was a bummer but we did run into Randy Pobst who was nice enough to sign our hood.
Finally we made our way to Carolina Motorsports Park. CMP will forever be known as the track where the mighty Versa clicked over 200,000 miles on the odometer. Also it's the site where the Versa spun and filled the cabin with dirt and where the a/c went out for the trip but those aren't as exciting.
Here's a few more shots of the Versa track machine doing its thing.
If you guys have liked following along, we have been much better about keeping the facebook updated and you can find that here: facebook
