On my Crusty Celica, the driver's side window reg rolls down perfectly, but in the last 1/10th of travel to close it, it gets stiff, and starts feeling like it is jumping teeth on the gears. I've pulled the door card already, carefully, but I can't seem to determine what the issue is. Any insight?

Any old grease hardened in the end of the travel area?

I'm having the same issue with my 4Runner's and is a new regulator.

It is jumping teeth on the big gear. It is pretty typical to wear the last 2 or 3 teeth off, particularly if its been hard to get the window to seal. I have welded them up, and recut the teeth with die grinders and files and such.

Up North back when most cars didn't have power windows the teeth got stripped when the window was frozen shut and the window crank handle was forced. Happened a lot more often on the drivers side after the late 60's when vent windows got fazed out and lots of people still smoked. As mentioned a little weld and file new teeth.

Hmmm, so I'll have to take it out, to find out. Damn. Not having a garage can be a massive pain.

Check PepVanceZone for replacements. The 4Runner cost me like $25.

Well, when the rain lets up, I will take it out, and see if its crusted grease, sheered teeth, etc.

May get a chance tomorrow, or this weekend. Damn weather.
