Big european sedan/supercars:
I love old weird stuff but i think i would almost be embarassed to drive that masi. It's just horrendously ugly and doesnt seem to have any real presence from that picture. It just seems awkward.
that maser looks like a vw quantum to me. lose.
the 450SEL 6.9 is a beast, and i would rock one in a heartbeat.
Dissenting opinion: The English have always made the best super-sedans (or saloons if you're so inclined).

Nope. 5'9"

I love me some XJ12, and would do... things... for a decent XJ12C.
The Lagonda V8 is one of those engine notes that struck me as a child and made this dysfunction so unshakable.

Agreed.

You get all the pain of a Ferrari V12 attached to a GM autoragic transmission without the normal good looks of a normal Ferrari and from everything I have heard they don't drive that well.

And? If i'm going to drive a boat, it's going to be AWESOME.
That... is AWESOME.
And if it's using a GM autotragic transmission, i bet a 5spd swap would be pretty cut and dry.

They came with 5 speeds too.

Really hard to find in the US though IIRC.
The 6.9. I've liked 'em since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. That and I think they'd be easier to live with than the Maser.

True, and i bet that's the deciding factor, because the 6.9 and the quattroporte are pretty easy to find in the US.

They're all grey imports anyway. Might as well just put in the effort/money and get the one you want.
Actually if I was buying something in that size around the same price, my vote goes Bentley Turbo R.

I'd just want to turn that into a hot rod.

I'd satin black it, pinstripes, slam it, run some uber low offset Work Meisters.
Oh, and a Home Depot boost controller.
I would happily take an old-school GM auto trans over just about any other possibility in a super-rare (at this point) old 'exotic'.
It removes a major sticking point: The possibility that if the part breaks, you are either out a E36 M3load of money while waiting a long time for one to arrive, or you're just completely berkeleyed.
If a gm auto trans breaks you fix it. EVERYBODY knows SOMEBODY that can fix a gm 3spd.
I like them both too, although I would rather own the quattroporte (I want ot get one in the next couple years actually). Most 6.9 specific parts are at least as expensive (if not a lot more) than for the quattroporte, and the 6.9 is a lot more complicated. The worst thing about the quattroporte is finding windshield glass, since they didnt make many. BTW, please no one buy a 5 speed one to part out for the drivetrain, I think they only made like 5 of them, the rest all have a mopar automatic.
