I remember watching motorweek, on PBS, build one of these many years ago. It was the only car TV show I got when I was a kid.

So GRM, Where are they now? Are they worth lusting over?

I looked into this a few years ago. I've found one or two for sale. It sounds like they only made fewer than 100. I think it was a great idea, but I suspect that the Miata killed it, as it showed up right around the same time.

OK, so... google images has helped me clear up the "What is that?" and it looks great. I didn't go whole-hog looking for the wiki though... so what was the story there? Kit or fully assembled? Looks like a much better project car than a FFR Cobra for a guy who lusts after old Triumphs and GTs.

They were rotary powered kits. They advertised in GRM and Autoweek back then. I still have the brochure that I sent for somewhere.

I am not even sure I would call them "kits" they seemed to be that well built.

Seems only 50 made it to production.

It's like a Locost humped a Miata after ripping the heart out of an RX7...

If you do an article on the car be sure to give us some good shots of the chassis so we can copy it later.

When will it come out? May/June 1991 issue?

I would love to read about them.

if you look closely.. they are a TRUE front/mid engined car. The Rotary is totally behind the front axle

I'll have to check the archives (my attic), I may actually have blueprints for this car.

It's cool and all, but it still looks like an English kit car.

After "assembling" their Maxton, MotorWeek ran a contest to give it away. My @#$%^ local PBS station STOPPED carrying MotorWeek the week they started the contest...with the necessary details on how to enter.

A guy in the Florida Keys won the Motorweek Maxton.

I remember watching that too.

There was actually one at the Classic Motorsports Mitty. I went over to check it out, late in the day and it was gone and did not come back on Sunday.

They did advertise with us, they are cool and I did get to drive one. Vaguely remember being quite impressed.

Okay, those have to be the coolest cars I've never heard of. Looks like it fills the same role as the 7/Caterham/etc but with better looking bodywork. I want one now.

I haven't thought of these in years... I was a junior in high school when the MotorWeek episodes aired. I've been smitten by them , Lotus 7s, Westfields, and locosts ever since. One of these days... yeah, who am I kidding... I just just stick to all the projects that I have alread accumulated. (But where's the fun in not looking for the next project).
