I may have a line on a stupid-cheap 929 with a V6 and a 5-speed. That's all I have. No year, etc.

Assuming it's cheap enough for me (doubtful) what should I look out for? I assumed clutch and timing belt right off the top. Anything else chronic?

Those are EXTREMELY rare. Why would it need a clutch right away? Plan on a timing belt, though.

I think they only brought the manual over in '88. That may be the only one left in the USA. Seriously. If it's at all decent, get it. I will be jealous.

The manual trans versions of those things are unicorns. If it runs and moves and it's cheap, it's grabbable.

I've never seen or even seen advertised a 929 with a manual. I always liked the car but couldn't wrap my head around the autotragic at the time.

Sorry, I was incomplete. I'm told it's got about 100,000 miles.

If you decide to pass, would you please forward contact info. I have cash at hand.

You are even relatively near to me so I am very interested if the car is real and you don't want it.

Stroker, my wife had an MPV (same drivetrain as the auto 929). It was literally unkillable. Her mom drove it for 20 miles with ZERO oil in it and it lasted until they sold it many years later. That was before two teenagers DD for a few years a piece. If you decide against it, I want to look at it. Remember I'm in Columbia.

As a factory manual, it would have to be an '88 or '89.

Isn't there a hotter version of the 929's V6 that's in found in the MVP?

Do. Want.

I'm torn about which I like more: 929's or Cressidas.

There's a DOHC "JE-ZE" in the later 929s, and probably the MVP as well. It's not a huge power difference, but would likely be noticeable.

Truly, it touches me to find a place where old Mazdas are known and loved. Excuse me, I must sit down and compose myself.

My dad had one of these, one of the last of them toward the introduction of the Millenia. This isn't it, and his was an auto and dark blue. It was an all around nice car. Don't think I've seen one since, and this was in the mid 90's.
