I had a 1994 protege that I drove daily for 4+ years. I "drove it like I stole it" as much as possible and it didn't seem faised at all. I lived on a dirt road for about a year and liked to see if the car would ride "smoother" if you drove over the ruts faster. Didn't work, but the car held up pretty well. When the car was totaled, the doors still had a solid "thunk" when they closed and didn't smoke at all.Even stock and w/ an automatic tranny the car was alot of fun. The only "issues" I can come w/ are the brakes and whatever fabric they put on the seats. In the fall and winter, when it was dry I pretty much just got used to being shocked everytime I got out of the car. No matter what I did. Find an 91-94 protege lx 5speed if you can. I may even have an old chilton's that you can have.

A follow up to the EGT is the ZX2. They main differnce is the engine and it is not a hatch back. They Zetec comes in at 130 hp. Add the SR ecu anr you get 143. Then add a few things and 150 is easily doable. It can rev to over 7K with no problem. I have a 2000 SR wich has been a DD, run 2-3 track days,2 autocross's and ice race a year since new. Still runs strong. The SR suspension is too stiff for rallycross and ice racing. Bigger rear bars can be had off wagons.

How does the BH chassis compare to the BG? I know the engine options aren't as ideal as the BP engine in the BG but how well does it handle?

Also, can anything be done with the B8 that comes in the Protege DX?
