Is 4000 a lot? Well, it depends. If you only have 12 days to auction off 4000 cars–then yeah, that’s a lot.
Such is the case for Mecum’s 2023 Kissimmee auction, which started on January 4 and runs until January 15 at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.
We took the opportunity to peruse the lots to see …

Love the blue on that GT-R. Bonus points that it's a rare model.
In reply to Colin Wood :
The blue GT-R did glow. And it was just sitting there.
And more pics to come. I took a few.
I say this completely unironically and sincerely: That Mustang II is a handsome, well-proportioned car.
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
I know a guy who can help make that happen.

Also, that particular King Cobra is missing its bottom cladding.
From the listing:
The most expensive Mustang option since the Boss 429, the King Cobra package cost $1,277 and included front and rear spoilers, wheel arch spats, an imitation hood scoop, spoked alloy wheels and special graphics and striping. A 5.0L V-8, power steering and power front disc brakes, 2.91:1 conventional rear axle and heavy-duty suspension were standard equipment. One of 4,971 produced, this example is equipped with the very rare T-top option. It has received a single repaint in the original Polar White, during which all new T-top seals and weather stripping was applied along with new King Cobra graphics produced by long-time restoration graphics suppliers Phoenix Graphics. It should be noted that the current owner chose not to apply the lower cladding and pinstriping, but the Phoenix pinstriping kit will be included.
Wonder how long Mecum and BJ will last, with all the online ones taking over with such low fees....

Good question, although Mecum says 4200 cars in Kissimmee and plans to up that number next year.
You can't have drinks and impulse buy while getting your face on camera online though. That and the ability to touch and look over the car more tells me that they are not going to be leaving anytime soon.
I like this one. Porsche 718 center-seat race car.
718 RSK
But $3.2M was not enough to buy it. Go figure!

And, after it crossed the block, it was just sitting there: no ropes, no nothing. Pay your whatever admission and get to see a true automotive treasure.

That e34 M5 is gorgeous!
It looked good up close–perfect color, too. But, no, I didn't bid on it.
The sheer volume of Superbirds and Daytonas was nuts. It's like, Wow, that's a lot. And then you realize there are more over there.

If only the wheels weren't so small

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it worked out to more than they actually built
Look at all those wings and snouts.
It was like going back in time to the dealership.
Hi, I'd like a winged Chrysler.
Daytona or Superbird?
Hemi or 440?
Stick or auto?
Color preference?
Okay, please come over here to see your car.
(Also, let's pretend it's 1970 or '71 and we're looking at leftovers.)
Spend millions for that? I gots one of these and it's a year newer:

A couple of years ago one of those turned up at the Dayton Cars and Coffee and it stopped me in my tracks. The guys I was with had no idea how rare the car was, but I give the owner big props for driving it around.
