Want a Fox-body Mustang? You might want to check out the 31 being offered up for bid at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee on January 4-13.
Do you like the look of those from 1979 to 1986? Or maybe ’87 to ’93? Yes, Mecum has them both.
Convertible or coupe? Manual or automatic? No problem. They got all those, too. …

I really liked my '91 LX. Subtle styling and nice noises, but my '79 with the Recaros was the most comfortable. Of course.

LX Notchback... no question! It's amazing what these are selling for these days...
85-86 GT, preferably with T-tops. I would also accept a bubble-back Mercury Capri.
My perfect Fox body would either be a notchback LX in charcoal gray with a stealth 347 stroker, Tremec 6 speed, 9 inch, and 16" Ponys, leather Recaros..
or
a convertible with SVO front sheetmetal, a Coyote, and Cobra R wheels.
I drove an '88 LX 5.0 hatch for over 10 years, with deleted cats and Flowmasters it would set off car alarms while idling through a parking garage.

This is the way. That's why there is one in my garage. I would also say a SVO too

SVO or a 93 cobra
Yep. At one point growing up my dad had an '85 GT and his best friend had an '86 SVO.

Sadly this awesome color, smoke/dove grey, combo on this car is ruined by the porno red interior.

Came here for the notch, wasn't disappointed.
I had an LX 5.0 5 speed convertible for the shortest of timeframes and that was such a cool recipe. PO had put nasty GT wheels on it but otherwise it was great. Aged well
My father still has his '90 5.0 LX / 5 sp hatch. It's got something like 25k miles on it, as after the first couple of years he decided it'll be worth a fortune so he hardly drives it. I can think of maybe one year when he put 1000 miles on it.

The irony is the porno red interior is now massively sought after by the Fox crowd.
1st choice 93 Cobra in red.
2nd choice 84/85 GT four eye in white with black stripes.
.
.
.
795th choice, white 90 GT with white convertible drop top and porno red interior, especially bad with the hideous diagonal stripe rear lights. A guy at my company in the UK brought one over a couple of years before I moved to the States, it was and still is hilariously tacky. I mean, Ozzy Osborn looked up from snorting coke off a hookers ass and said 'no, that's a bit much for me'
I'll be at Mecum this weekend, so I'll report back with my favorite Mustang on Monday.

Ah...my first car. A 1987 LX 5.0 notchback. Maroon over grey cloth with the same 5 spoke wheels. Only mod was Flowmaster exhaust, and it sounded absolutely amazing!
The Smoke color one went for $36,300. Will be real interested in where this one (Lot T182) ends up:
Its virtual twin is sitting in my garage. Actually mine's a 90 and has the finned wheels, but otherwise would look just like that if perfect. Pretty sure I have less than $3k in it.

Yours is in the same condition?

Thats my favorite because CHP had them. I would like one in Teal, if I cared for Fords.
We have a neighbor with Saleen versions of the Fox Body. He has 3 of them, all delivery mileage, sitting in aired up car capsules.

Back when I was drag racing, we regularly cooked the (tiny) front rotors off these getting them stopped at the end of the strip. Fortunately, I lived just a few miles from Saleen's original shop and could buy take-offs from them for pennies.
A friend had an '89 Saleen 'vert with a Paxton blower... autotragic, unfortunately, but it was still fast. Low mile Saleens are bringing good money these days.

Lol the brakes suck! That was the first comment I made to my now BIL after I took his brand new ‘86 GT down the unofficial strip in town. Between how tail happy they were and brakes from a Pinto it’s a wonder any of them are still around. (He still has his, roughly 50K on it and in pretty close to perfect condition. Just a cold air intake and replacement radio. I’m sure he has the original parts stored.)

I assume the auction has ended, were there any surprises similar to that Bronco that BaT sold recently where there was a significant price difference from what was expected?
In reply to dyintorace :
I'd pay more than I'd admit in public for an LX like that red one.

A friends dad had a S281 (maybe?) Saleen (The 1995 body style), that looked very cool. I don't think it was very fast. I remember Saleen used to do the body colored wheels. I am not far from GALPIN, so I saw tons of those specials back in the day.
As I said, fox body wasn't my thing. But I always loved the Turquoise & and the CHP ones. 5.0 fender badge and dual pipes with no ghetto chrome tips - were so hot.
Of course I was drag racing RX7s FD and Single Turbo SC300, so I wasn't the right demographic for those cars back in the day....
My bubble wrapped neighbor thinks he can pay for an education at Stanford with each of his cars for his 3 grandkids.
