People like to insinuate that the Dodge content on Hot Rod Garage/Roadkill is strictly because of the Dodge sponsorship, but if you know about these guys, it really isn't. After all, of the literal hundreds of cars Freiburger has owned, a good majority of them have been Mopars and he considers himself first and foremost a Mopar guy (First car was the '70 Super Bee that has appeared and he has owned 8+ Dusters). I don't believe that Steve Dulcich has ever owned anything but a Mopar. And Tony Angelo has owned the Demon since he was in high school and the Dodge D-200 was introduced into the Roadkill collection before the Dodge sponsorship way back when they first built General Mayhem as a possible engine donor (They decided not to cut it up then because it was to nice and then after Tony got it, the 400 expired. Whoops)

Love it! Can't wait to watch! Also to emulate!
Is it too late to lose the chassis from Tunatruck?
But then you'd have a Chrysler with a Chevy engine in it.
This was pretty cool. That car is definitely a head turner, too bad it broke in spectacular fashion as per usual.

It'd be the exact opposite of Blasphemi, the '55 Chevy with a 528 Hemi.

And that would be a bad thing?
No. But only if you can outrun the MoPar weirdos trying to lynch you..

Absolutely--and I have no problem with that, either.
I do think it's interesting/good that the last couple of episodes have been non-Chrysler builds, though.

Yeah the Dodge sponsorship doesn't bother me in principle, I just got tired of hearing "hellcat hellcat hellcat" for like four episodes in a row. (Stupidest name for ... anything, ever - you just know some receding-hairline, suited, bespectacled marketing dweeb was patting himself on the back for coming up with it.) And that thing that shop turned the General Mayhem into was just, yick.
But the last couple eps were really great (that Mazda truck!), and Freiburger's legendary rant against corporate cable in the 'GMG' episode lets me believe they won't sell out to Dodge either. It's a good show. :)
...I still think the Vette Kart is the coolest thing they've ever built. Followed by the leaf blower Monza, but the Nas-carlo is pretty close up there. (Note: they didn't build the REPU, otherwise it would be in this list too.)

I think even if Dodge hadn't been sponsoring them, we would have had Hellcat content. In the musclecar/hot rod world, the Hellcat is the big deal. After all, it is a 707hp, factory-built, warrantied, 10-second capable machine for less than $70,000. That is a ludicrous value. And it was only two episodes, the Hellcat vs. Hellcat vs. Viper episode and the General Mayhem swap, in between which we got some of the all-time best episodes, like the Crop Duster build.
As for what happened with General Mayhem, I'm sure it'll get further back to what it was. All the lights and extraneous harnesses and modules and things were just to get it running and driving, they've already stated they intend to start trimming all the excess garbage off of it and they plan to convert it back from the drag-only trim.
As for coolest cars, I think the Muscle Truck is numero uno for me. That truck looks great, sits just right and has a ludicrous exhaust note. Plus the backstory on it is hilarious. 2nd would probably be the Crop Duster. And 3rd would be the General Mayhem or the Crusher.

Meh, all the numbers in the world won't make those things cool. I seriously doubt anyone under 50 has ever bought one. They only exist because the rich 65-year-olds gobbled up all the original Chargers and Challengers before the rich 55-year-olds could get their hands on them.
Early Vipers - those were cool. Great car, great name, and designed by a bunch of engineers who didn't give a berkeley and did what they wanted with no real concern for marketability. "Hellcats" - none of that, and not cool.
Anyway it's not a huge deal, it's still a great show, even if they do talk about an uncool car a bit much now & then.

I have a friend who is doing just this with a chopped 48 Merc and a CASCAR chassis. I need to send him the link to the Roadkill video.

It was such an eloquent "F You" to Discovery.
I just hope it doesn't take another 4 years to rebuild it.
I'm late to the party on this one, I only just saw the episode last night. Absolutely awesome. The Monte Carlo really suited that full roof, short tail look. It was amazing they pulled it off in such short order. I really hope they re-do it within the next 12-18 months, not a 4 year wait.
Any build threads of people doing similar things out there?

I think you're way off base here. The people I see buying (or at least driving them) tend to be my age, mid 40's with some in their 50's. I too would have thought that the current muscle car revival would be supported by baby boomers who wanted them as kids. But I see plenty of Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and Chargers all being driven by Gen Y, Gen X as well as baby boomers. The appeal seems to be far more than nostalgia.

If I had room in my pocketbook and my garage for the Hellcat version of the Charger I'd have one. The thing is cool. Yeah, I'm 41.

If I could afford one, I would own it in an instant (unfortunately there are no new cars I can afford and would want to own). Me and 2 other co-workers joked about going in all together on a lease for a Hellcat. Our thoughts were, we could probably afford the payments for the 2 months it would take all of us to lose our licenses.
Just in case any of you crazys still want to build one of these.

I only know one Hellcat owner. He's a grandfather. He also races karts at the top end of our local talent pool. if he's a typical buyer, we're good.
I shall set aside time for this video.
Probably my favorite Roadkill yet. I was sad when it crashed but then I realized it would be more sad if they had built it and then not taken it to a track.

Also, Roadkill is awesome!! I was late to the line with it, but that just means more for me to follow up on. Really good to watch. I have not had cable TV for 10 years so it is nice to see shows like this on Youtube!
Thanks Ross
