I'm doing the brakes on my dad's 1991 miata and the front passenger side caliper wobbles. Tried tightening it down, but no luck, drivers side is nice and tight. I know the sliders only attack to the caliper with threads so that the caliper can slide in relation to the bracket, but this is so loose it looks like it would just back out from vibration. Is there some trick I am missing here?

not sure about miata, but typical sliding caliper design has rubber bushing on one or possibly both guide pins. if the bushing is missing, caliper will have free play as you describe.

pull the good side apart and see what's different between the good and the bad.
