Question about putting a 2001 Miata 1.8 VVT engine together.  My kit came with paper gaskets for the rear main oil seal housing and the engine oil pump to block.  When I tore the engine down a year ago I  do not remember these parts using gaskets  they were sealed with RTV, no gaskets.

So gaskets or RTV?

Thanks, Paul

Honda Bond amazing stuff. I've never had  a Miata but if there isn't a gasket use Honda Bond.

That's the question,  I don't recall it using a gaskets and the rebuild kit came with one. As for sealant I am using Mopar 3bond, stuff kicks ass, was able to keep a 1977 Oldsmobile from leaking oil!

Anaerobic sealer is pretty cool, too!

Gasket for the coolant housing. I don't recall on the rear main but I would refer to the factory manual.
