I bought a bucket seat for my miata that came with a nice set of Garage Star seat rails. They are laser cut to fit a miata with the normal rear mounting wedges.

The car I bought had those ground flat for more head clearance.

How do I fill the angle of the seat rails so I can safely use them with my now (mostly) flat floor pan?

Similarly for those who have put in the lowering pan for their miata it seemed flat. What seat rails do you use with that?

Pie cut a piece of steel tube to act as a spacer

In talking with a friend who is a welder I'm thinking about cutting off the foot and welding it back flat with a spacer to fill the triangle of empty space.

If I make a simple wedge then the bolt still sits at an angle above the bottom of the seat rail. If I cut it off and weld it back flat then I'll get a good mating surface for the bolt/washer.

For people who have done the drop floor pan what seat mounts did you use?

Durty, if you are not handy enough to weld your own just buy a trackdog bracket the drivers side "low" one its made to fit where your seat goes with the hump removed. I am using 2 of their brackets and at 6ft I don't need the low option for broomstick however

Jaynen are you using the ultrashield seat they have that mounts through the bottom to the bracket?

I have a side mount Bride seat I was trying to use.

What do you have for tools?

The quickest solution would be to heat the rail bracket with an oxyacetylene torch and twist it till it sits flat.

The prettiest would be to cut the tab off and weld it back on flat.

The hand tool solution would be to cut the tab off with a hack saw and bolt a piece of 90 degree steel angle to the side of the mount and the floor.  That would require drilling the two holes in the angle and one in the side of the seat mount.

So sorry to bump an old thread, but I have the exact same set up with the prior owner cutting off the stock humps and the same Garage Star brackets for my NB. Did you end up doing any other solution for Garage Star mounting or kept as it was in the pics?

Thank you!
