It's a standard 12-point socket, nothing exotic. 12mm, I think.

Correct...but need to add a "NEW" 12 point 12 mm socket
I had tried a 12 mm 12 point and it was skipping, so I stopped and asked before I made a mess.
Not that this was critical, I was merely stripping the head off of a 1600 so I could make it light enough to carry to carry by myself and scrap. This is the first time I have ever scrapped a perfectly good engine and gearbox and for some reason it felt wrong.
