I'm having a little trouble getting my Miata to start up. Nothing appears to be out of place under the hood, but I don't know anything about these cars. I have a feeling it's just a loose wire or something.

Yeah, this is what we found when we lifted the hood on the $500 yellow Miata we bought off our message board. Yes, we were surprised.
My bet is on the aftermarket alarm system!
I would also think either the alarm or the English Wire Wrecker squirrel...
Of course you might want to check if there is a rodent family currently living in the airbox...
