I have a feeling we've had this question answered before but I can't verify the answer and despite having owned four NAs, I've actually never looked at an NB closely.
The length of the cabin in an NB is the same as for an NA, correct?
I'm wondering if - with the impending release of the ND - I should just go with the easy button Miata if I can't find an RX8 to my liking, then wait until the ND is out an potentially upgrade next year. However given the ergonomics issues I've had I don't really want to run into the same problem again...
Mind you, if I can get the local race shop to build me a roll bar around my seating position, I may be able to work around the "not being able to get back far enough" issue.
I think it's very close to identical for space, from the view of the hard points. Some NBs have travel limiters on the seat rails, you can pull them.

Good to know. Ill have to check that out this weekend. Thanks.
Thanks Keith. If I bought an NB, I'd probably end up pulling out the OEM seats anyway so it's good to know that the hard points are the same as they are in the NA.
Still think you should just buy a 944 and get it over with. They are cheap, like lego's and build parts and info is easily acquired.
That or look at the NC since they are practically at the bottom of depreciation and I believe they have the most interior room out of all of them.

Drove an NC right before I bought the NB, concur. NC room is pretty good.
NC is problematic if one, um, wanted to fit an SCCA legal roll bar to it and take it to the track...

I saw that on the FM facebook feed. Do you happen to know if it's also legal for SCCA CT & TT as I'm trying to move up to CT this year?
It's legal for PDX. I haven't looked specifically at CC and TT, but it meets every criteria I've seen for removable bars in the SCCA regs.
Get me the CT and TT rulebook, I can look. There was a retired SCCA inspector involved in the design.
I'll have a look at the handbook - there's something in the back of my mind that says a PDX rollbar is likely to be legal for CT, too. I'll let you know...
Had a look - SCCA PDX rules for 2015 state that aftermarket rollbars for PDX should comply with the Time Trials/Hillclimb specs for roll bars, so I'd guess if it's good enough for PDX...
The rules can be found here:

I finally got a chance to take a peek. My 2000 has a travel limiter on the passenger side only. It looks like it's there to keep the back of the seat from pressing on the ECU that's mounted on the rear bulkhead. I never have tall passengers with me, so I left it in place.
