I've seen a BMW dealership in Hawaii advertising a 2004 JCW S for $15995 for the last two weeks and my interest is piqued. KBB.com shows a retail value of $19995. These seem like they're going to be real collector's cars in the future.
Not that I have space in the garage for it, but where do you guys see these bottoming out?
Aside from having a hilariously fun car to drive (allegedly), would this be a good "investment" grade form of transportation?

Hard to say.

First, I would question what JCW S means. IIRC, there were several options for those years, from JCW mats to full kits. I wonder if it just has a JCW badge on it? Have you seen it up close?

Second, predicting a market on such a new car is hard. MINI's have a very low depreciation rate, but the first generations seem to be dropping in price a bit more.

OTOH, if you are "kinda" looking, a MINI is a blast to drive. Good economy, easy to park, fun to drive, fun to "upgrade", what more could you want.
